| Description | I was born in London, Ontario where I completed my degree in Art History at Western University, with additional courses in painting and drawing. I became an art teacher with the Middlesex School Board, teaching in public schools until I went overseas to teach in the international school system for over 7 years. I lived in Ottawa when I returned, where I began painting professionally. I currently live on Vancouver Island with my husband and cats, a permanent home! My landscapes often capture ephemeral moments as viewed in nature; the quiet magic when the day moves to dusk, the way a forest is reflected in a lake, the softness of a misty day. I am drawn to the calming forces of far-off vistas; a mystical place we can enter to escape from our busy lives. My love for animals is expressed in my series of wildlife paintings that I create and donate for fundraising events. Animals have always resonated with me. I am in awe of their mystery and beauty. They teach us to observe, to slow down, listen and watch. I want to capture the essence of each animal, their personality and vulnerability. Their gaze draws us in – the curious look of an otter, the watchful eyes of a rabbit, the gentle glance of a bear. My intention is that people will see their individuality and connect with them. I have been painting professionally for over fifteen years. I am currently represented by Studio 87 in Perth, Ontario. My work is included in corporate and private collections in Canada, the U.S.A., and Europe. |
