Description of your art form | 12c Byzantine style religious icons written on Claybord featuring gold leaf and Swarovski crystal accents. |
Description | I was raised Roman Catholic and have since become an Anglican. I was trained as an architect and am now retired. I have always had a fascination and interest in religious art of all kinds. My first intensive icon painting workshop was with renown iconographer Peter Pearson, USA. For the past several years, I have been studying weekly with renown iconographer Daniel Neculae, Belgium with a focus on the 12-13c Byzantine style. I am experimenting with different types of gold, silver and copper leaf techniques. Lately, I have started introducing Swarovski crystal accents into the halos and other parts of the icon. I paint using traditional egg tempera with natural pigments on Ampersand Claybord panels which I believe are more durable than traditional wood panels. Thank you for looking at my work. Much appreciated! Most of my work is sold before it is placed on this site. If you are interested in an original icon, they are available as a private commission. Just contact me. |
