“The Colours of Water” is a “plein air” celebration of summer and the waters around us. Water in a glass appears almost colourless, while en plein air water sparkles under blue summer skies, it shimmers with the hot pinks and purples of hazy smoke, and it becomes moody in the clouds of a cold front. The water’s attitude shifts from calm to tumultuous, from one day to the next, and the water’s edge changes from spring green to summer’s sallow yellow as the seasons pass.
Water scenes are featured in this series, all familiar and popular nearby lakes and beaches. These places have provided us with quiet walks, refreshing swims, picnics and romantic evenings and, remarkably, the ever changing colours of water.
