Acrylic, watercolour, oil, and mixed media
Sharon began her art studies at the University of Alberta in the mid 70’s. While working she was unable to paint full time but continued to improve her skills by attending various workshops and art courses.
Using watercolor, oil or acrylic paints she creates work depicting local landscapes, seascapes and people and she also enjoys painting pieces that are nonrepresentational. While entering her work in many shows including some of the Sidney Fine Art shows, she has been fortunate to receive many juror’s awards. She has also opened her home studio during many of the Peninsula’s Spring Studio Tours.
Sharon has been a member of the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society (SPAC) for over 20 years and has held several executive positions during that time including vice president and president. She has served on various SPAC committees including one term as the Spring show co-ordinator. In 1998 she was juried into the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) as an Active Status Member. She is also a member of ArtSea (CACSP), the Pacific Palettes and TAG painting groups.
“Painting is a challenge I very much enjoy. It enriches my life in so many ways. It leads me down many pathways; pathways that show me new ways to to see the world, pathways to never-ending learning experiences and pathways to many new friends and fellow artists, I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy painting them.”
