The Sidney Concert Band is currently a 40-member community band, where musicians ranging in ages from 17 to 80 and from all over the Saanich Peninsula gather to enjoy playing music together under the musical direction of Bruce Ham. The band has been in existence since the winter of 1986-87. The first public concert was held in Tulista Park on June 30, 1987. The Band owns a musical repertoire suited to a wide range of venues. Our library holds over 400 scores, including Gershwin, Mozart, Cole Porter, Holst, Gilbert & Sullivan, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Leroy Anderson and much more! The Sidney Concert Band practices Monday evenings at Peace Lutheran Church in Sidney. The Band plays at least 4 concerts and 2 parades every year, often with an additional charity concert or other special occasion.
