Maggie was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in the 60s.
She remembers that from an early age, she had a passion to draw and
design. Therefore, it was a natural step for her to pursue a career in
Her experience includes teaching as a sessional interior design faculty
member at Lethbridge College and founding and operating her own successful
interior design firm in Southern Alberta. This was sold when she and her
husband, Vern, moved to Vancouver Island in 2008.
Originally intended as a hobby, exploring visual arts was inspired by the
surrounding natural beauty of the Saanich Peninsula. Maggie had puttered
with water colours when rendering design projects, but it was only after
moving here that she had time to seriously pursue art – initially in water
colour, but now also acrylic and paper cut. She enjoys the ongoing
challenge of capturing the ever-changing natural light which enhances
landscape, seascape and flora.
Maggie’s design style has always been ‘clean and contemporary’ and through
composition and the use of vibrant colours, it was a natural transition
for her to transfer this same style to her art pieces.
Her paintings now hang in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Europe
