Artist: Ronald T. Crawford.
Carved from Salt Spring Island sandstone, “The Keeper” is a representation of strength as its form leans into the winds that whip the Sidney shoreline during storms. Ronald’s stone sculptures are about balance and risk. They are based on stacking stones, which he maintains; all people love to do. In fact, the last time he was in Sidney, he noticed someone had built several small stone stacks near “The Keeper.” In 2020, the Town of Sidney purchased this sculpture as part of their ongoing commitment to arts and culture in the community.
