Join seven featured artists for the opening reception of the exhibit on
Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
Open daily: 10am – 4pm
This exhibition is dedicated to showcase the talented works of the artists who are from the lower mainland and Vancouver Island, and who participated in the Art on the Edge workshop hosted by award winning artist and educator, Carole Finn, in Ucluelet, B.C. in 2022.
Like the first green shoots of spring, the workshop came at the moment in 2022 that Covid mask mandates were finally being lifted; a balmy week of painting, photography, and wandering the beaches of the Pacific Rim was the best medicine one could desire after months of solitude. Carole generously shared her many skills and considerable experience over the course of a very productive week. One of Carole’s centring aphorisms is “what is the story you are telling?” As artist/participant Corinne Flaws said, “The art on the edge workshop helped me to think about what I want my paintings to say to the viewer.”
As one of the participants in last spring’s workshop, Thomas Kero, expressed, “I am excited to see what seven dedicated artists will say with their paintings this April. What I expect to see is a lot of very solid, nature-inspired artwork rooted in a deep love of the West Coast, and of Vancouver Island, in particular. I am expecting to see windswept beaches, foaming waves, and intimate forests.”
