Wild Places, Wild Women
July 17, 2026 – July 23, 2026
Show Times: 10am – 4pm, daily July 17-23
Exhibition Details: We are Claudia Malacrida and Ann Perodeau – two landscape painters who have found new ways of being and understanding through painting the wild. For us, landscape painting possibilities can “ambush” from anywhere: from the roadside, our backyards, sitting aboard a kayak or on a hike up a forested mountain. They come from a surprising moment, when the light hits the trees in just the right way, or a peaceful interlude as the fog clings gently to the water, creating mystery and calm. There are always shapes and contours in the wild that strike a chord and bring us back to the easel to try to capture nature’s “language”.
These wild spaces have touched and nurtured something wild in both of us, helping us to see a world that, despite its trauma, remains exquisitely beautiful. Nature is our muse, and it is our companion in rediscovering and reconnecting to our authentic selves. We are more than our homes, our titles, our possessions, and when we see ourselves as a part of the greater living landscape, we come to awe, humility, and an understanding of our place as stewards and connected observers. We are blessed in our encounters with the majesty, intimacy, beauty, and raw power of the wild. We paint these places in hopes of sharing the joy and solace that nature gives us.
