Description | Danielle Labonté is a photo-based artist living in Sidney by the Sea (BC) since the summer of 2021. Danielle has enjoyed photography since she was a young teen but became more seriously hooked by the medium after retiring from full-time work. In 2021 she completed a two-year Diploma in Photographic Arts and Production from SPAO: The School of the Photographic Arts (Ottawa). Danielle is inspired by the natural world and by nature’s resilience and its constant beauty despite human encroachment. She interprets the world around her through grand or intimate landscapes, seascapes, macro, or abstract impressions using in-camera techniques such as intentional movement. She has also been known to occasionally use film, polaroid and mobile cameras. She especially enjoys making handprints by blending digital and historical photographic processes such as platinum/palladium and cyanotype. Her graduation portfolio at SPAO featured primarily these historic methods. |
