| Description | Kirsten Norris is a landscape impressionist painter who lives and works in a seaside community on the Saanich Peninsula, Vancouver Island. Kirsten has always enjoyed exploring her natural environment, often with paints or a sketch book in hand. She was born into a family of artists and grew up in a community where making art for a living was natural. Kirsten studied art at university while completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing. Her love of drawing and painting continued to build during this time, finding inspiration while hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Moving westward, Kirsten continued to study art through hours of practice, reading, and finding art courses and mentors from whom she could learn. Kirsten’s love of nature has never waned and living on Vancouver Island has provided her with a rich palate from which to draw inspiration. Working primarily in oils Kirsten paints in layers with lively colours to construct seascapes, still life, and portraits, but her passion lies in exploring light and movement in local landscapes. |
