Oil on canvas and board
Kirsten Norris is a landscape impressionist painter who lives and works in a seaside community on the Saanich Peninsula, Vancouver Island. She was born in southwestern Ontario into a family of artists and grew up in a community where making art for a living was not unusual. As a young person, Kirsten enjoyed exploring her natural environment, often with paints or a sketch book in hand; it was in these early years where her love of nature and art was born.
Gradually moving westward, Kirsten studied art at the University of Calgary while completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing. Her love of drawing and painting continued to build during this time, finding inspiration while hiking in the Rocky Mountains.
Kirsten has continued to study art through hours of practice, reading, and finding art courses and mentors from whom she could learn. Kirsten’s love of nature has never waned and living on Vancouver Island has provided her with a rich palate from which to draw inspiration.
Working primarily in oils Kirsten paints in layers with lively colours to construct seascapes, still life, and portraits, but her passion lies in exploring light and movement in local landscapes. To inquire about purchasing her work, please call or text Kirsten at 250.857.1931, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kirsten’s work is held in private collections throughout Canada and Europe. Her work has been exhibited at the Sidney Fine Art Show, the Victoria International Marina, and was selected for the Town of Sidney’s Beautification Project where it was reproduced on a utility box along the waterfront in Sidney, BC.
